Vice President
Greg McGarvey has 30 years of experience as a senior pastor in larger churches. Greg believes financial leadership is grounded in biblical teachings that are authenticated by personal modeling of generosity. He and his wife, Peggy, experience the joy of generosity through leadership giving.
Greg has extensive experience in stewardship development, capital campaigns, and vision discernment. Throughout Greg’s ministry, each church experienced financial growth. During his tenure, the last two churches he served turned unmanageable debt into “debt-free” status.
In addition to his leadership in the local church, Greg was a member of the United Methodist Board of Pensions and Health Benefits and served on an international steering team to raise $25 million to provide pensions for retired pastors and surviving spouses in Africa. Currently, Greg is giving counsel to the Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church as they raise $1 million for a project mission school in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
“For years, stewardship consultants from the companies we used promised that their capital campaign leadership would bring spiritual enrichment to our congregation. Those promises were ultimately fulfilled in a campaign led by a strategist from Horizons Stewardship! Since joining Horizons, it is my privilege to offer spiritually focused strategies for stewardship.”
Greg holds degrees from DePauw University and Asbury Theological Seminary. Greg and Peggy live in Indianapolis, Indiana, and enjoy travel and sailing.
